The honest answer? Probably yes. But let me show you why.
I've taught hundreds of women and birthing people across the world. They come to me by very different routes. Some have been recommended by a midwife. Some found me at 11pm after a particularly frightening birth story thread. Some come back for a second or third birth because the first one — the birth they prepared for — was so different from what they'd feared.
Almost all of them wondered, at some point, whether hypnobirthing was really for someone like them.
Here's what I've learned: there is no 'someone like them.' There is just you, your birth, and what you need to feel ready for it.
KG Hypnobirthing grounded in the physiology of labour — how the uterus actually functions, what hormones do, why fear causes pain to escalate and how to interrupt that cycle. It is, at its core, applied psychology and biology.
The techniques we use — breathing, visualisation, relaxation — work because of how the nervous system responds to perceived threat, not despite it. This is not belief-based. It's evidence-based.
I have a BSc in Psychology and Biology. I will explain the mechanisms. You will understand why it works before you're asked to trust that it does.
Books give you information. Information lives in the conscious mind. But fear doesn't live there. Fear lives in the subconscious — in the body, in the nervous system, in the patterns laid down by every birth story you've ever heard, every off-hand comment from a well-meaning relative, every dramatic TV labour you've ever watched.
No amount of reading touches that. I've seen it hundreds of times: brilliant, well-read women who can explain the stages of labour in detail and still go into their birth absolutely terrified.
The work we do together goes underneath the information. That's not a soft, vague, spiritual claim — it's how subconscious reprogramming works. And it's what changes the experience.
Ideally, most women find me somewhere between 15 and 35 weeks — early enough to practise the techniques and let them become second nature. But if you're further along than that, please still get in touch. You still have plenty of time.
And if you're reading this before you're even pregnant — that's also completely fine. Some of the people I work with come to me because the fear of pregnancy itself is that consuming. We start where you are.
Hypnobirthing is not a natural birth club. It is not for women who want a candlelit pool birth and nothing else. I have supported women through home births, hospital births, inductions, epidurals, emergency caesareans, and planned gentle caesareans — and the preparation matters in every single one.
Knowing your rights, making informed decisions, remaining calm in unexpected moments, having a partner who knows how to support you — these things are not less important in a medically complex birth. They are more important.
I will not judge your choices. I will help you make them clearly and confidently, whatever they turn out to be.
Many of the women and birthing people I work with are neurodivergent — often only recently diagnosed or still working it out. I find this more often than not, actually. If you experience the world with intensity, if you find it harder to let go of control, if you need to understand the 'why' before you can trust something — you are going to find this course particularly useful and, I hope, particularly satisfying. The depth of explanation we go into, the 'why does this work' behind every technique, tends to land well with those of us who think the way you do.
Please tell me if there's anything about the way I teach that I can adjust for you. I want this course to be as accessible to you as possible.
Some of the most profound work I do is with women who are approaching their second birth carrying the weight of their first. The fear is different — more specific, more embodied, more real. And it deserves to be taken seriously, not minimised.
What I want you to know is this: last time, you made the best decisions you could with the information you were given. Which, in most cases, wasn't much. That isn't a failing — it's exactly why you're here now.
We don't go back and try to change what happened. We can't, and that's not the work. What we do is meet it honestly, release the fear it left behind, and build something different for this birth — with better information, better preparation, and a clearer sense of your own power.
Many women find that this birth becomes a healing experience. Not because it erases the last one, but because they finally get to meet birth on their own terms.
